Get a Purpose Driven Dating Life through Great Expectations Dallas

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

First, I’m not a spineless laid back guy, traditionally interested in watching junk tv alone like a spoil sport. It’s unlikely readers probably never read me post on great dating and relationships. No surprise.

Helplessness is a fixable popular feeling and intentionally neglected in my man programming (man-gramming?). But, There’s no point avoiding it, I was forced to end a solid fling that meant something to me but truly carried on to nowhere. So somone might go on record saying it may have been ages since I dated. I can’t find the dating with great expectations that came naturally before.

Being single is new and free. This much is certain, I won’t be reduced to sit tight, faithfully binging on Star Trek Enterprise reruns. The number one cause of this bout of incidental dating apathy? The people I know are settling down, and everyone else is boring.

My one-time golf buddy, Brandon, who will never have dating loneliness, informed me he’s almost in the same boat. He joinedGreat Expectations Dallas. A bit out of character, but I like introductions with delightful women with similar interests. Surprise, I decided to make a change and paid the membership fee to get started.

Keep it real, there ain’t room to feel down about going dateless when you haven’t called anyone. Just like my mentor and basketball coach Jason Smith often said between war stories, “You’re complaining to the competition, sparky.”

So he was divorced 4 times. Regardles, the old guy was truly a wise sould in a way nobody could understand. He always made us laugh. The amazing series of singles events in Dallas here might have short circuted the old man’s mind.

Last night at a Great Expectations happy hour I spent time with a few quality and appealing singles that hold my interest. I truthfully had a carefree night with some pretty noteworthy singles. I ducked out of the mixer a little early following a promising exchange of numbers, and as a plus, I grew some social networking acquaintances for work. Success.

Take action. You won’t win if you don’t. Listen to me and believe in your own great expectations for your dating life.

Respectfully,

Josiah

You may think you know all about the water cooler company- what it does and sells. You may know, for instance that it specialises in bottle-less water coolers (also known as plumbed in and mains-fed coolers). You may also be aware that it is the sister company of The Water Delivery Company, whom it shares offices with. But, did you know that the water cooler company is also offering potential customers free trials on all of their water coolers? No, I thought not. Well, they are. If you go to thewatercoolercompany.com, you will see on their home page an advertisement for this unique and exciting offer. The great thing about having a free trial is you aren’t forced into making a blind commitment- something we are all very bad at doing in this country. You have the benefit of using a mains-fed cooler for one week, testing out how you take to it and whether a particular design suits you, with the option of returning it with no obligation whatsoever. Included in this offer you will get a state of the art bottle-less water cooler, as well as a free installation service, and one hundred disposable cups on top of that. It’s a bargain.

Internet Marketing: 10 Deadly Sins of a Poorly Designed Website

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Face it. There are tons of websites out there but very few that actually pull their weight and get results. Effective website design is not easy. If it was, every business that put up a website would realize enormous success. It takes many different skill sets to pull together a killer website.

That being said, here is a list of website design sins for your edification. Consider these deeply and I highly recommend you make sure your website doesn’t commit them.

Website Sin # 1 – Website does not have a crystal clear objective. Why do you have or want to have a website in the first place? What do you want it to do for your business?

Website Sin #2 – No clear call to action. This sin dovetails on the previous one. Once you are clear on your website’s objective, make it real clear to your visitor what action you want them to take. Clearly spell it out. Trust me, leave no room for interpretation.

Website Sin #3 – Website does not have a means to capture visitor’s contact information. You are missing a tremendous opportunity to gather prospects who are clearly interested in what you have to offer – hence qualified prospects to market to going forward. Do whatever it takes here. Offer what we call an “ethical bribe” in exchange for their contact information.

Website Sin #4 – Website doesn’t give visitors a reason to come back. Unless your website is a one-time sales website, you must keep it chock full of new and great content to keep it producing for you.

Website Sin #5 – Website has no substance, all style. Dovetailing on the previous sin, focus should be more on adding valuable content as opposed to having flashy animations. Flashy animations may wow your visitors once (if you’re lucky), but great content starts building a relationship or dare I say a dependency on you. Bottom line you’re adding value to your prospects.

Website Sin #6 – Website has an “it’s all about me” mentality. Keep the copy conversational in tone and focus clearly on what’s in it for your visitor. Make them feel that it’s all about them – make them feel special.

Website Sin #7 – Website is inconsistent with your “Brand”. Your website does not have to be the best looking site out there. It is far more critical to be consistent (same overall look, feel and design as your other marketing materials).

These next three sins are absolutely inexcusable and should not require much explanation. Nothing will frustrate your visitor more and detract from your credibility faster.

Website Sin #8 – Poor or inconsistent navigation. Don’t make people think. Make it real easy for visitors to find what they are looking for.

Website Sin #9 – Dead links. This is a credibility killer. Always do what you say you’re going to do. It is amazing what people can read into a dead link – the worst being that you simply don’t care enough about you visitor.

Website Sin #10 – Slow website. I know, it’s hard to believe but not everyone is using high speed broadband Internet connections yet. A little compassion here goes a long way.

Teaching Your Kids Through Playing

Friday, June 5th, 2009

We all want our young ones to be brought up with a good education to establish not only a decent working life, but to hand them a solid understanding of how the world works . And there seems to be this unceasing battle of tearing your nippers from their toys or the television in order to force them to do their homework. In schools it appears that the playfulness is taken out of studying, so it’s no surprise youngsters are bored. There is an alternative to this problem though. Rather than this false dichotomy of playing and studying, it’s far more effective to mingle the two up and make learning enjoyable again.

Kids will learn much more when they either visualize a pragmatic purpose as to why they’re studying a particular lesson, OR if studying is simply enjoyable.

For instance: give the youngsters 26 blocks, representing 26 letters from the alphabet. Now tell them to build a column from the building blocks that spells a particular word. So they’re enjoying themselves and attempting to make block pillars not collapse while learning to spell.

These days, it’s now accepted that once you introduce a subject to a child in an enjoyable way (for example geography), youngsters are more amenable to becoming interested in it later on in life. If you just sit them down, face them toward a chalkboard, then ask them to take heed of the teacher waffling on, the chances are you’re causing daydreams rather than encouraging interest in the subject.

What variety of playthings ought you to get your children? Nowadays there’s a huge range of toys. Bear in mind that kids enjoy playing with practically anything, even bubble wrap! So anything from educational wooden toys to DVDs for children, so long as the emphasis is on learning and helping your youngsters to become inquisitive (which furthers self-learning).
