LDS Single Adults Have Many Activity Options in Phoenix
Sunday, April 26th, 2009In Arizona, single members of the LDS Church have no shortage of activity options available. By single, the LDS Church means that the person in question is not married or if he or she has been married, the divorce is final. If those requirements are not met, the LDS Church will not consider a person to be single.
LDS stands for “Latter Day Saints,” which is another name for members of the Mormon faith. Actually, Latter Day Saints is the shortened name for their official name, which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
LDS single adults have many activities they sponsor in the Phoenix area. Many of these activities relate to singles dating, a concept which the Mormons believe is important enough to be regulated by their church teachings. By sponsoring various aspects of singles dating, the church believes it has more control over its young, unmarried members. Thus, the Arizona Mormon group has breakfasts, movie nights and dinner parties to help their youth maintain good opportunities to mingle and to keep the dates clean.
Of course, most of the activities that LDS single adults participate in have devotional times and opportunities to learn more of the doctrines of the LDS church. Whether it is dances, sporting activities or actual worship services, the LDS leadership endeavours to keep its doctrinal standards very clear to the youth in its care.
At least in Arizona, there is a strong organization standing behind all of the LDS activities available to its unmarried membership.
